Tell me about it!! So far the estimate is 3,300.00 gonna have him look at the clutch while it's down. Work is being done by Motorsport Engineering, Ed Mullinex...in Richardson. Ex Big Shop engine specialist who has his own shop... Really good guy... 12 month unlimited mile warranty

No way to prebuy the chain!! The 996 engine is very simple... So reliability shouldn't be a factor with good maintenance. I just got "unlucky"
.
Why not looking at the Porsche dismantlers and buy the engine... most likely cheaper and definitely quicker to get back on the road. I think 6-8K for the long block and you are half-way there. Good luck!

I may be responding a bit to late but Jason over at UFO Motorsports is doing my rebuild on my 3.4l. He runs about $7500 if you have a rebuildable core plus any head work if you have a cracked head and will install for free. I made only one mistake, i should of paid $650 to freight my car to Long Beach Ca and let him install it for free and drove it back to San Antonio, TX.

I work in Richardson and just acquired a 1999 C2 Cab. Let us know the details for future reference.

JB, have I seen your 996 off Jay Ell drive? Usually when you get a new vehicle, you start seeing them every where. Not the case with the 996!

I thought you just needed new valves -- what took out the block that you're going with a 3.8?

using LNE Nickies?

The Valve keep failed and metal in the filter. I decided to tear down the engine and convert it from 3.6 to 3.8 and do all upgrades. I am concerned that the engine is toooo sensitive and I want to drive it hard. I only have 48 miles with 2 engines.. do the math.. Any better ideas?
