HVAC Display Fix?

Greetings! My first post here at 6speed. Not new to cars or forums.

I purchased a '03 C4S in Oct. One of the problems it has is several elements on the HVAC digital display aren't visible.

On the right side, there is no symbol when the button for the center vents is pushed (symbols for the upper vents to windshield and floor vents light up when selected).

On the left side, several of the lines that make up the numbers for the tempature setting are not lighting up.

Overall, not huge issues. However, I would like to fix them, if possible. Is there someone out there that repairs the HVAC displays? I'm not going to buy a new HVAC unit, it's not that big of a deal.

Thanks for any input. I did search, but didn't find any results.

Cheers,

FLi

I think replacement is the only option. i have the same problem. I like to have my things operational, but its not that important. You can buy a used unit on ebay at around $200.

Another option if a used unit doesn't pan out is module master

They do climate controls and instrument clusters and there are references available on renntech.org (people are generally very pleased with their work):

http://www.modulemaster.com/en/servi...e_controls.php

http://www.modulemaster.com/en/servi...t_clusters.php.

Mamut - You hit upon my reservation of a used/eBay replacement...you run the risk ending up with a unit that has exactly the same issues.

Thanks for the input, all.

Cheers,

FLi

I was looking for a fix for this piece, but I never thought these things could be fixable. I am definitely getting that piece fixed throught these guys rather then buying a used piece!!!

I just finished fitting my ModuleMaster kit for a broken HVAC display and it's now as good as new. Took about 30 mins. My advice to anyone reading this who goes that route would be to take careful note of which way up things are as you take it apart... but it looks as good as new and for not a lot of $.

My hubby did mine - It was 60 box for the display on ebay - looks exactly factory and perfect. Took 15 min tops.

Mine would have taken 15 mins if I hadn't put it in upside down

Hubby said he wondered if the connections were just loose or dirty - but since I had the new face we went ahead and used it - besides now I know how easy those "modules" slide in an out of the dash -

I did the ebay DIY kit 4 years ago, looks exactly like yours. Can't find it there anymore, so maybe ModuleMaster is the only way to go now. Machbx, could you post a link or seller for future in need owners?
