Also, how easy is it to remove "Carrera" & how did you do it?

As mentioned earlier in the thread I bought the "911" emblem from Eric at BumperPlugs.com. Current prices should be on his site and I understand he gets them directly from Porsche.

As for "Carrera" removal, I didn't want to butcher it so I had a guy do it that I met through the local PCA group when on a group Porsche drive (Cooper's Classy Car Care is his shop). There were a few other things I needed to get done anyway. There are some threads on here I believe if you do a search. I recall someone explaining that they used dental floss and that it wasn't overly difficult.

I too like simple -Carrera or 911. Classic elegance.

I checked BumperPlugs website for their products/prices. It's interesting how expensive "911" is versus "PORSCHE." You'd think "911" would be around $38.00 or less?!

It's the same all over and I don't understand it either. Actually Bumperplug's price for "911" is one of the lowest I've seen.

Best of both...

Attached is a photo of my 40th year Anniversary Rear "911" emblem with the 40 Jahre (which I thought was pretty cool) on my actual 40th Year Anniversary Porsche 911.

@Ersel: Do you have a photo of your car and of course a photo with the rear emblem? Post a photo of how your car currently looks like please.

IMHO, I actually like the new 2012 "PORSCHE 911 CARRERA" emblem. However, I would Purchase the "PORSCHE" emblem with the new 2012 991 series and below it just the "911" emblem. I think that would be a great compromise and still be satisfied with the new 991 series look, and still be clean and the right perfection of sophistication.

enjoy my pics below.

QUICK Photoshop for fun

Sorry for the low res, I had to find two matching angles...

Very rough / quick for discussion.

Of those four, I prefer option #1. Option #4 would be my next choice of the ones presented here. I also like it when it just says "911".

Three is growing on me. Reminds me of the early cars. I have a silver cabriolet, so the chrome is not as prominent.

I do want a change on the emblem. I agree, the bare "911" in chrome also looks very good. However, the cabriolet is already lacking a little of the 911 coupe's style when the top is up due to the rear quarter windows.

I upgraded mine. Hell of a difference. The old ones really date the car.
