Couldn't hurt........I change mine once a year with very low miles.

I'm not likely to drive more than about 6,000 km each summer when the car is on the road, so I'm going to change the oil at the end of each season before storage if not just for the peace of mind that moisture and other combustable byproduct and contaminant in the oil won't be sitting there etching away at the metal surfaces in the engine through the storage months.
That's my story/theory and I'm sticking with it!

C2S... LOL... Damn noob!!!
91octane, id change oil every 5K due to the current mileage and if u daily drive the car. Tires will wear out fast in the rear, not 4wd so u have lots of tire brand options(cheap and expensive)!
997 is nice, but your car has potential to be a show stopper. Lots of great mods out there for ur ride. Skies the limit or should i say... Skies your credit limit!!! Haahaa

Oh yes, I forgot that a Porsche engine is only made up of an IMS and an RMS and no other parts. How silly of me. You really should do some reading on the subject. Or don't. If ignorance is bliss, I'm guessing you're one really happy fellow.

My P-car only sees 5K miles tops per year. The 5K mileage change makes sense to me. Mileage is not the only consideration in this matter. Time is also a factor when changing your all your fluids. That said, taking internal condensation (known to increase the probability, however low, of an IMS failure), and oil breakdown contaminants, my P-car gets a "blood transfusion" on a yearly basis.

2. I already know what you have to say since you tell me about them everyday. Why the hell are you repeating what u repeatedly tell me in person in the forums?!
As a 6spd member here on the forum, u should always respond/post in a respectful manner! ... If not, just dont post at all...
Better me to keep u in check rather than the moderators here on the forum. Another noob move!!!
Its ok, u will learn. LOL

Since I had a 996, I guess I can reply...
0-40 mobil1 every 5k miles, 93 gas if possible, my choice of tire at the end (after pilots, p-zeros and contis) was nitto invos. great tire for the money and they last forever (20K miles+)
My car was a 2002 Carrera with 157K miles when I sold it this past november, with the original engine/ims from the factory)

Summary:
New Porsche owner introduces himself and his car, but makes a small error in terminology. Thread quickly turns into a pissing contest as obnoxious members crawl out of the woodwork. Very mature.

i agree, they are acting as if he entered into some fraternity and should get hazed...this is why some people never return!
996 ftw! go funky headlights!
This is not usually the case on the Porsche boards and it's unfortunate that you were greeted in this fashion. For the most part, Porsche enthusiasts are gracious and helpful. I hope your future experiences are more pleasant.
