Your dealer (or qualified indy) will have to get the code for your vehicle and program the key. I've had it done with new guts, but not old ones. Should be possible.

not 100% sure but the charge to reprogram will be in the neighborhood of $300-$400

When I last checked with my dealership, they charge about $200 for a new key and around $180 to program.

The answer is "No". The code the dealer requires to program the key is the 20 digit identifier for the key which is not on the back of the key. The part number may be the same but the internal identifiers for the radio code and immobilizer are specified on a piece of paper that you get when you buy a new key. There is no way in hell to reverse engineer a key if you don't have that code. Sorry to be the bringer of doom and gloom on this one...

For a 2002 model you need a new key with the 20 digit programming code.

Newer model cars, I believe 997s (and possibly a couple years of 996's) and onwards they can look up the programming code.
