Angry Battery bolt help!

This is getting frustrating, it's one thing after another with this water pump that blew. I just finished replacing the pump, and found out that my battery charger was not working properly and ended up blowing one of the cells.

We were trying to get the battery out, but it seems like the mounting bolt on the left side of the battery tray is stripped? because you can turn it and turn it and it does not unthread. We did try one person pulling up on the 43lb battery as the other tried to unthread it and still nothing.

Does anyone know a way of getting this bolt out so we can remove and replace the battery? and is the bolt stripped in the thread area (the head is fine)?

I'd hate to have to drill it out....

It sounds like you have exhausted your options. If the nut on the back is spinning freely, there is no other way - Drill away!

CAREFUL drilling here!!! On a C2 right beneath the battery tray is your fuel line connections and then your gas tank!!!

I would even consider using a crowbar under the battery instead of drilling, just for the above reason, or just cut the metal bracket, or dremel off the head of the bolt, but not a drill. You can always buy a new bracket or bolt or even tray.

You might want to try and remove the 4 bolts on the perimeter of the tray and lift the entire tray and battery out together, then deal with the bolt on the one side of the battery on the workbench, I'm not sure if you can get to the two bolts under the battery however, it might be worth a shot.

Thanks for the replies, I forgot that the gas tank and the lines were there. I would have drilled it out if you guys didn't remind me. We ended up dremmling the head off the bolt and popping the bracket off. We took a look at trying to undo the battery tray itself, but the two bolts were indeed unreachable.

Thanks for the input!
