AOS not Water Pump...does this make sense?

I pulled into the gas station yesterday and noticed coolant leaking from under the car. Quite a bit, not but certainly not a minor leak. I figured it was the water pump. Temp was ok so I drove it to a nearby parking lot (drove fine). Had it towed to my Indy who just called to say the water pump was fine but the AOS is toast. I am a mechanical ingmoramous so the question is, does this make sense?

Yes, it does as those are common symptoms of an AOS failure... You can expect to replace one at least once over the life of the car.

On your engine the AOS has a coolant passage going through it so it could be the source of the leak.
