Go with the turbo if you can afford it. Better engine design.

My mechanic said if I get a C4s he wants $3,000 and he will install a fix/kit for the IMS problem.... anybody know what exactly he wants to do?

He most likely wants to install an aftermarket intermediate shaft bearing. There are several kits available, and the most popular is the one from LN Engineering. It offers a ceramic bearing. It is an upgrade in terms of bearing design and will most likely provide years of great service. That being said, some of the upgraded bearings have failed. It's not an absolute fix. I plan to have one installed in my C4S, I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

It's the LNE upgrade most likely. $3k seems a bit high though, I had mine done at the dealer when I purchased her. I hed the bearing done, the RMS, oil change, new K&N air filter, and the PPI and it was only $3200. But if I were you I would do it for peace of mind.

Thanks! I listened to a ton of Fabspeed exhaust clips (muffler bypass and their loud muffler) and I really want to pull the trigger and get into a C4s

Yup, I did the same, I went with the PSE Hack (Fisters) and the sound is awesome! Nice at idle but put you foot into her and she roars! You'll love the C4S.

Comparing to 997.1 is about the same as far as concern performance. 997 has better interior, PASM option, better gear feeling and more. Its looks better at front but many Porsche fans like the rear end of the 996 4s better
