I was visiting relatives in Palm Springs, CA last weekend. I left really early, around 6:45AM and tried a new way home to San Diego. Instead of the dreadful 15N/215E/60E/10E, I drove home through the mountains... the 74 to the 371... dumping me out in Temecula. Because is was so early, I practically had 70 miles of curving, two-lane road to myself (I only got sideways once).

I didn't think I needed reminders of how much I love my 996, but this was one of my best drives in about 8.5 years of ownership.

I love this car.

 

I'm not familiar with that area of the country, but there's nothing like driving through the mountains on winding roads.

 

Thanks Bill. Yes, I have driven some winding roads a couple of times, but never 60-70 miles and with close to no other cars.

I see a lot of trips to the palm desert area in my future, now that I don't have to drive the congested 215, 60 or 10.
