C2 vs. C4s

I know what the difference in specs are between the C2 and the C4s but what I am contemplating is if the C4s is worth it. I have driven a 2003 C2 and fell in love but every time I see the rear end of that C4s my heart just starts racing and I drool however I'm not sure if preferring the body is worth the additional initial cost, higher costs for some repairs, and added weight. Do the better brakes and suspension make a big difference?

I know the real answer is it is only a choice I can make for myself and the best way to choose is to drive both, however there are not a ton of people out there with these cars just willing to let me drive their car so the next best thing will be to ask the opinion of those who may have driven both.

My plans for the car are to keep it a weekend car for the curvy mountain road fun.

As you say, the right answer is to drive both and make your decision based on your own experience.

I *did* drive both (a number of examples of both). I decided on the C2. For a couple of reasons:
1. I couldn't find a C4S in my price range (*love* the look of a C4S)
2. The C2 just felt more.......fun (entirely subjective I know, but there it is)
3. Given the driving *I* was planning to do with the car (fair weather, weekend), I really couldn't justify the additional cost.

badcar is infamous around these parts
I drove both prior to my purchase- bottom line I wanted a year round car thus the C4S. The few C2 models I drove did feel lighter on the front end when pushed. As for cost increase in maintaining the car vs. a C2...not sure there really is any except for tires.

It's been over a year since I researched replacement costs of parts and I think I found basically any of the Turbo parts on the C4s cost a bit more than the C2 parts. I could be wrong since it has been a while. Those costs alone weren't enough to dissuade me from the C4s.

Now that you mention it..I did have to replace my rear tail light...new is $500 but I found what was at the time the only used part for $250. So yes, there are some items that would equate to turbo ownership (brakes, wheels), but mechanics of the 3.6L essentially the same. That tail light reminds me to mention that view of the behind of C4S is one of the best of any 911.

For real. I know it is a silly reason to want the car but any time I see that center reflector I nearly slip on my own drool.

As a C4S owner, I'm obviously biased towards that model. I do like the C2, and I drove one and seriously considered it before I bought my C4S. For me, there were several things that pushed me to the C4S. I prefer the look of the C4S with the wide body, the reflector strip, etc. I also liked some of the upgrades that come with the C4S, like the suspension and brakes, PSM, as well as the full-leather interior trim. While the C2 does have a lighter overall weight and is more "tossable", the difference in driving experience isn't huge. The C4S drives like a RWD car most of the time.

I don't regret my decision, and I'd buy another C4S given the choice.
