'99 Alarm issues

Has anyone experienced their alarms going off randomly after the car has been locked? I have a '99 996 with 60k and have recently installed a Kenwood Media player to replace the factory radio. The existing CD changer has been left null and void and I have considered taking it out but read somewhere in the manual that the changer is attached to the alarm....Is there a work around to ensure that the factory alarm is activated regardless of the CD changers presence? Appreciate any input as to why my alarm is misfiring! Also, the red light indicator on the dash has been flashing twice in succession when the car is armed.

Easy fix! Take out the radio, and then thoroughly tape off the Brown?!?(sorry the color eludes me at the moment) wire that used to attach to the driver's side of the radio chassis frame. This is either still connected or hanging loose to the side after the new radio was installed. The reason the alarm is going off is that it thinks that someone has stole the factory radio. You should also hear the horn honk when you arm the car if this or another alarm contact is still open, including the glovebox and center console. This should fix your problem. Let me know if you need additional help.

Oh, and the factory CD changer shouldn't matter whether it's installed or not. So go ahead and take it out and save the weight.

Look for a Brown/Blue wire from the original radio connector and remove the pin and tape it (or cut and tape the wire).

Is this located in the front trunk? I have seemed to misplace the tools to remove the Kenwood unit from the dash....

No, it is located in the plug to the radio.

I had a problem with my alarm one night. The alarm kept going off and I couldn't see any problem. It seemed random at the time. I ended up turning the alarm off for the night. I found a dead moth on the dash in the morning. It never happened again.

It set off the interior motion sensor.
