New bulb didn't fix it - what now?

Hi,

My left front blinker went out so I ordered a new one, took out the headlight assembly (nice link on how to do that in this forum - thank you), and replacede the bulb. However, that didn't fix it. I noticed that the bulb I took out didn't have a broken filament. I also tried a second new bulb and it still didn't blink. The headlight still works so I'm 100% sure I replaced the headlight assembly correctly. Thus, I've deduced that it's not the bulb. Any suggestions on what to check next? Is there a known left blinker fuse I could possible check/replace? I'm not overly handy so if trouble shooting this involves getting out a voltmeter and isolating various connections and wires I'll probably take it to a shop. Thanks for any suggestions.

This sounds like the reasonable path.

Unless your good at isolating and troubleshooting electronics I'd take it to a shop. The blinker circuit shouldn't be overly complex so I wouldn't expect it to take to much time to troubleshoot. It could just be just a bad relay, but I expect that would affect both all the blinkers. Just my 2cents

I know you are convinced that you installed the light housing back correctly. When I added HID Fogs, I too was convinced of this as the rest of the lights all worked. However it turned out you can get the housing to slide in, be not fully seated and have some of the lights work. Moral of the story is double check it. Eject the housing and slide it back in and lock it in carefully with the tool. Do your other blinkers work for that side? If one relay runs the entire circuit and your rear blinker for that side does work I would probably rule out the relay. If you want to you could swap the left and right relays just to see what happens.

Good luck.

Thanks for the all the feedback. I'll just take it in to a shop. I did have rear LED's installed and I had to add the relay to stop hyperblinking. However, that was a while back and all blinkers worked fine for several months. The rear blinker (same side) does work so maybe that rules out the relay. As for changing the blinker fluid, I have that done every time the fetzer valve is adjusted, so all bases covered there.
