Selling my C2, getting frustrated
Nice car. At the $20k mark, there are a lot of choices but it's always a hit and miss to find a clean car.
I would agree the mileage is a potential issue for buyer. I would provide info on the mechanical condition of the car, any major service performed (note that you have the 90k service but maybe provide a photo of the service record). This will ease the buyer regarding repairs.
Your best bet is exposing the sale to a wider market. Put it on different forums, marketplaces and yes, even craigslist.
You will get low baller but you should be able to weed out most of them through phone and email conversations. Don't take it personally when you get dreamers and tire kickers. That is how used cars are sold.
Buying a used car is equally painful so make it easier for the buyer and you'll make the sale. Good luck!

I revised both my listings in Cars.com & AutoTrader, plus the marketplace here to hit highlight the factory options, service records, and add ons.
Was a member up until 2 years ago. Didn't even think of PCA, good call.
You're in LA, so you know, but the drive from Sherman Oaks to Marina del Rey every day is really wearing on me. After basketball & working out, the last thing I want to do is work that clutch for a hour. 30 definitely ain't 20
Yeah, no kidding, that drive must get old. I was just kidding with you. I actually work from home, so I don't need my 996 as a commuter, but I understand your situation Good luck with the sale and new baby!
This is a pretty ****ty description. The bolded points are things that make me pass on cars like this. Buyers for 911's know about the car, it's not a Camry at bill's used cars.
There is already a bold price, why state it again?
Nobody cares why it's relisted.
I don't know you, why would I trust that this the best C2 911 in LA?
No questions asked?
Why am I set?
What does "the car is stacked!" mean?
What's a GT3 look?
This is what I would advertise:
89K miles. Firm Price. Never raced. Garage kept. Immaculate service history and 90k mile service completed. It's a prime example of a C2 911. I'm selling because my wife and I are expecting a child and need a bigger vehicle. I have owned this car for 4 years and truly enjoyed every single moment. Factory options are ______; Aftermarket upgrades include: 19" Work wheels; JVC MP3/DVD dash unit; Pioneer/Kenwood speakers and Kicker 8" subwoofer; GruppeM one off exhaust; K&N Dry Charger; PSS9 adjustable suspension; GT3 body and Turbo rear bumper. Sad to see it go. Please contact for further details or if you have any questions.
Here are some things that I was looking for when looking at 996's:
Do you have service records?
Updated IMS?
How old is clutch/RMS?
Smoker?
Anything wrong with the car?
Accident history?

Ill add that Im turned off by lists and lists of mods, and lists and lists of detailed maintenance descriptions. To me that screams...lots of expensive parts probably installed incorrectly, someone has probably abused the car at one point, and why so much maintenance?? With the revised wording, someone who knows Pcars will ask the questions as noted, and newbs will not be scared off by all the maintenance but will know that its all up-to-date.

glws.
Have you tried craigslist? I have bought and sold so much stuff on there. I think more people go through craigslist these days then any other site. Just last friday I picked up a mint 84 944 for my gf off of there. I do all my sales through there. Just make sure you put in your description "no trades" unless you would consider it cause people will calling you with trades and plenty of them! Some will be really off the wall lol. Unless your up for trades then you can list what your willing to trade for right in your add.
I think White Out's reply was spot on. I actually looked at your car ad when I was still sold on getting a C2. Your previous ad was a little "off" to me. Had I read it again after you revised it...I definitely would've strongly considered it. Even with it being in Cali. I'm not stranger to shipping my cars or flying out to drive them back. This one would've been shipped of course. I think you should just hold out a little while longer. The right buyer will come. Don't give the car away. Good luck with the sale and congrats on the new addition to your family!

Your car seems like a good deal to me. (sorry , I'm not in the market)
A couple of things to keep in mind i) the economy is still rough, and no matter how you cut it a P-car is a luxury item (even at 20K) and ii) in many places in the continent people are thinking less about sports cars this time of year (hard to believe I know...). Yes, I know you're in California and the weather is *always* great for motoring, but your addressable market is everywhere in the U.S. (and Canada - I bought my car in the U.S.). If 60% of your potential market goes to sleep for the next 5 months, supply and demand dictates that the market price must fall.
If you don't get an offer you like shortly, I would shelve it until next March.

Thank you all for the fantastic advice. Yesterday, I sadly sold it. Was a time of mixed emotions for real, as the new owner drove away towards his family. His wife greeted him with hugs and his kids were excited. That was a good feeling. Now, the hunt for a E63 begins.
After all that thread you should tell us what you sold it for if you dont mind..ps: if you got anything over $18,000 for those kind of miles on the 2001 then you did phenomenal..i'd say $16-$17 would be rite price for this
