Radio FM AM not working

I just got a porsche 996 carrera 2, and the radio doesn't work. I press the FM AM button and nothing happens, and if I press the Audio button, there is no radios on the list, or frequencies..
My radio is like this one:

Also, the cd case in the trunk doesn't eject so I can put on the cds, I just press the eject button and it doesn't do anything.
Anyone knows if both these problems are related, and how to fix them?

I found the radio code written in the manual, but do I need some type of card to make it work?
Here are some pictures of what I get in the radio:

looks like its time for an upgrade that one of the worst PCM Porsche ever made. You Know you can go with the Alpine 7 inch on This 996 and get a good map bluetooth and iphone/ iPod compatibility.

The NO CARD refers to a SIM Card celluar card. That unit has a sim card slot built in when it had the european phone pack installed by Motorola. IN the States they had a RAZR or a startac cradle kit on a Kuda Mount. That would have nothing to do with reception of am/fm.

Does CD work?

Is the Antenna Plugged in?

Is there after market tint on the Window? That could kill the reception.

If you have no reception at all and no cd audio my guess is a bad amp!

Hello.
I can't get the cd tray in the trunk to open, so I don't know if CDs work.
I don't know if the antenna is plugged in, where is it?
No tint.

Regards

Had a similar problem on mine and just replaced it.

Is there at least static on audio when the radio is on...

My unit went bad and it was cheaper to go aftermarket years ago.

there is no static noise, I can't hear anything...
But if you go aftermarket, how can you see the info like miles per galon and such?

I just replaced my PCM2 for an aftermarket unit, I still get the mpg and ave speed info on the screen in the instrumental panel.

I was checking if all fuses were ok, and the one from the radio couldn't be checked if not removed, so I removed it (I did this because I had the radio code writeen in the manual so I figured there wouldn't be any problem with taking it out), but now it's asking me for a 4 digit code, and the 4 digit code I have written on the manual doesn't work. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

I've seen the threads where you can ask for your radio code giving out your vin, but that doesn't not work for PCM codes, does it?

Nope. PCM code cannot be found unless original code is on the card.

I would love to make you a good deal on the parts to replace it. You have a dinosaur of a unit and if you have no sound at all a new system will be cheaper than a replacement amp or PCM Unit.

i would look at your option sticker under the front hood to see if your car came with the PCM. if not, it was added later on and since you don't have the correct radio code, it's useless now.

you can look up your option codes online to see what they mean. google porsche decoder.

i suspect something is not wired correct between the cd changer, amp and head unit. since you have checked fuses, the next step would be to pull the wiring.

i would agree with others that your best bet would be getting a new double DIN unit that has nav, bt, ipod, xm, and maybe rear cam. these things are getting pretty affordable. for about a grand or so, you can have it all. if budget is tight, you can skip rear cam and xm. i would also look into those head units that mirror your smart phone too.

Remember if it is fiber optic on a 996 you will need an amp to properly power the system.

I'm not from the USA. I will try and go to Porsche to see if they can solve this, otherwise I will put a new head unit in it, Alpine or such...
