6 speed manual...Tips shift way too early for these engines, as mentioned in another reply. Driving a manual gets you the most out of these cars, especially if you like to "drive" them not just tool around.
Best shift range is 4k to 6/6500K. Goodness, I can drive around town and never get out of 3 gear if I want. With a Tip it'll be in 5th, not good for the engine, these engines love to rev high.
Manual get better resale.

Yes, by all means, get the one you like, it's your car, you're the one that has to be happy with it, and when you do don't second guess yourself just enjoy you car. Hell, paint it pink or fushsia if you want so long as it makes you happy.

roadsession is infamous around these parts
I have a Mk2 996 Tip. The Mk2+ tips were manufactured by Mercedes Benz - and it's basically the same transmission that went into their AMG line to handle the torque generated by those cars. It's actually pretty intelligent, shifts pretty fast, and against a less experienced manual driver, it will be faster.

I chose a Tip specifically because my car is a daily driver and I have to deal with awful city traffic 5 days a week. But then I discovered that it's actually pretty good on the track. I was surprised how intelligent it was on the track - when it would hold a gear, when it would shift up or down - without me having to manually select a gear.

Is a manual more fun? ABSOLUTELY YES. But for my particular situation the Tip has served me fine.
