Painted interior trim

Does anyone have painted trim pieces in their 996TT? I am considering switching my center console and dash horeshoe and some door trim from the leather OEM to painted arctic silver. I saw some of these parts on Ebay for sale. I was just curious with your experiences with chips, scratches or scuffs to the paint? Do you use a certain paint product to touch these up? Let me know your experience and would you install these again, knowing what you now know.

Thanks for your help.

The OEM pieces are fairly durable but you still have to be careful to avoid any scratches. You can also get the pieces professionally painted from bumperplugs.com or do it yourself.

I chose the last option because I wanted to match my exterior seal grey color. I just completed painting quite a few interior pieces with spray paint matched to my exterior car from paintscratch.com based on the recommendation of a fellow 6speeder Afletche. The matched spray paint is definitely more expensive but you can simply buy some of automotive silver color paint that is close to the arctic silver from your local autoparts store. The most time consuming part is to sand off the original textured surface really well. Overall it turned out pretty good. See my post:

Let me know if you need help with anything else. Good luck!

Can you post the steps you took to do this....the job you did looks fabulous....I'd like to do the same, though I think I will do Speed Yellow.

Thanks in advance
