Question

Why would someone mod a 996 with a potential RMS leak. Would the dealer cover a modded car?

depends on the mod......most likely because the RMS leak would not be the modded area of the car. I have PSS9's on my car and the motor was replaced under warranty. One thing has nothing to do woth the other. I am not aware of any mod that has an effect on RMS leaks. Now if you put a shift kit in and the synchros are burned out in your transmission, then maybe they will question the warranty repair because the mod may be related to the failure. Or you put a spercharger in it and the engine goes....that kind of thing.

If you stuck a SC on the car and the RMS went they might deny it under warranty. The SC won't cause an RMS problem, but they could make an argument for it just because you're making a big engine change. Personally, I wouldn't bother spending any extra money on a car with RMS problems. That's like putting a bigger, better engine on a boat that has an unrepairable leak in the hull. Start with a car that doesn't have an RMS problem.
