Muffler removal issue

Hello Everyone, having a problem removing the muffler from my 2003 C4S. I was able to loosen and slide the clamp and remove the 3 bolts attaching to the bracket. I tilted the muffler down and started sliding out towards the wheel well. I felt something binding and preventing the muffler from coming out. Everything was free except for a braided line connected to the muffler. Not sure what this is and all the DIY's of muffler removal never mentioned anything about this. Here are a couple of shots I took from under the car.

The first pic is shot from the back looking forward. Second pic is shot directly underneath and looking up. Here the line goes through the heat shield.

My question is whether or not I can remove this line. It looks like a vacuum line but I just want to be sure. Any and all help is very much appreciated.

Thank you,
Kelly

That line appears to be the vacuum line used to activate/deactivate your PSE. Remove it when pulling your muffler, remember to reattach it when reinstalling it.

Thank you very much. Didn't realize the PSE was available for the 996. I thought that was a new feature on the 991's.

I guess this is automatically activated since I don't have a switch inside.

Thank you again.

Yep looks like you have PSE. How did the PSE sound? Are you changing the exhaust?
