Just coincidence likely. Usually is one of the seat belt receptacles.

If you can, get your hands on a Durametric code reader. That will tell you which receptacle is causing the problem, or if it's something else. The receptacles are a common problem and not just on Porsche's, many German cars so I've read. The part is ~$65 from Suncoast and it's a fairly easy DIY to remove the seat and replace it.

I recently changed the stock seats to the GT3 bucket seats 996. Transferred the belt buckle and was find until a about 100-200 miles later.

From what I've read they tend to go bad with no warning, it's not likely anything you did. As was pointed out above, it's very likely just coincidence. I'm still sticking with a bad receptacle.

My passenger side went out 3 months after I bought the car, changed it and no light for the last year.

If you don't have access to a Durametric/diagnostic tool either a dealer or an indy shop can hook you up. Some charge, some don't. A standard OBD2 will not pick this up, it needs to be a Porsche specific tool.
Good luck!

I had this once and it was also related to the seat belt. I cleared the code and luckily it has not returned. See if someone near you has a durametric cable to clear the code for you.

I did have it cleared but few miles later it came back on. It's indicating that it is my driver seat belt. I don't know what's wrong with it.

I just changed the seats and plugged the seat belt harness back in.

The biggest pain on SRS lights is that they will never ever self-reset after a given number of clean cycles like most other OBD codes...

So yes, dealer or durametric reset, see if the problem occurs, and only then start replacing parts.
