question on navigation unit

I just bought the FACTORY double din navigation head unit off of somebody and was wondering if it was possible to install just the head unit without installing the navigation dvd and/or the navigation antenna. (by the way where can I find those parts for a good deal?) . I want to know if I need a wiring harness or something to install the unit in place of my single din tape player and a/c controls. I have a 99c2. Also, I would like to know if it would control my cd changer or would I need a harness for that as well. LOREN PLEASE HELP ME!!!

If you are talking about a PCM1 unit (and I think you are)... that is a huge job to install in any car that was not wired at the factory. Porsche will not let any dealer do it becuase so many wiring harnesses have to be changed out. No Porsche tech I know is willing to tackle that one either.

Now the PCM2 (only for MY03 on) is the opposite -- it's pretty much plug n play. JMHO... but you are likely better off with a 3rd party nav in the older cars.
