When we had an opportunity to formally vote on the style for these lights before they were produced, I voted for the style in pic number 2. I was significantly outnumbered by 996 turbo owners who wanted something more similar to the 997 LEDs.
Glad "those" guys aren't designing cars. They do not seem to understand design basics. I'm concur with mkc2's observation.
I would like to see an example of the smoked clear lights on the C4S. Since they are not a shade of red, there would be no issue about a different tint of reds. It might work, but I'd have to see it to really know...
