Fuel questions for 996
Fuel questions for 996
I normally drive, and fuel my car but the wife drove it and fueled it last go around. She accidentally pumped 87 octane into it, I pump high octane. This was an overbite for her. Is this going to be a problem or are we just looking at a pinging issue under load? The tank was about dry so it is pretty much a full tank of 87 octane that's in there.
Well, stop fretting. The ECU adjusts for lower octane so you won't hear/ feel anything in normal driving. On the track that's another story. Here in the North East, after Sandy, people were filling up with what they found. Haven't heard of any explosions. Just don't make a habit of it... These cars are tough and they have to be to withstand the kind of abuse they're expected to receive...Just enjoy the car.
