In this economy does anyone feel bad being blessed beyond measure
I don't feel bad for one second.....I imigrated to Canada at the age of 7, my parents provided for me the best they could but only worked minimum wage jobs.
Despite that, I managed to get a universaty degree and buy 29 rental units by the age of 30
My typical day looks like this:
4:45am - Get up for work
6:30 - 4pm - Work
5:00 - 6:00pm - GYM
6:00 - 9:00pm - Rental Property Issues
I work Hard, I deserve it, End of story!
Half of my tenants are on government support....majority of them are full of excuses, always the victim.

What economy? You can't get into a restaurant, the mall is full, the stock market is at never-seen heights, 401k's are exploding, there's almost no interest and no inflation.... Life is great. And no, you can't feel bad because you are doing better than anyone else.
My bad,I live in a poverty area where 75% of the people if they eat its from the food bank, the most crowded the grocery store is would be the 1st and 3rd,but everyone seems happy,I guess this was a stupid post,of course we all worked hard to get here!Didnt mean to deminish anyones hard work.
I don't think your post was to diminish anyone's hard work but to show us how fortunate some are vs. those who may not have as much because of location, how they were raised, their drive to succeed, economic status, education, etc. I'm retired and I'm enjoying the things I can afford because that's the way it's supposed to be when you retire. I try to help others when I can but I also have family who comes first.
It seems that guilt is always associated with prospering while others suffer.
The classic "survivors guilt" that's experienced by the lone survivor of a jet
liner crash or a sole combatant that survives an assault in which his enire
platoon is killed. Then we have "white guilt"..... that has led the country
square into the economic downturn that we are all feeling guilty about doing
well in. Ironic isn't it
