Pictures after H&R Install...

Very happy with the H&R spring swap!

A few pictures from todays ride...

The improvement in performance is superb, but I'll admit my original motivation was to get rid of the hideous tire/fender gaps with OEM setup...

Mission Accomplished!

(OEM ride height below... )

H&R Sport Springs, part #29513. About $300 shipped.

Listed as 1.25" lowering F&R, sounds about right.

Looks great! Do you feel it improved body roll, etc...? I am considering this mod for my Cab. I do track it a fair amount and would like to reduce roll without spending a small fortune on coilovers . BTW have you tried HLT multi-cam app with your iPad Mini?

Are those the stock 18" wheels? I'm considering this same drop for my 01 with my 18" turbo twists.

Looks great. I would love to do this to my '99. How hard of a job was this?

They are stock 997 wheels... Slightly different offsets but they are working out great!
  • 18x8 ET 57 (+7mm offset = 7mm LESS backspace, running with 7mm spacer)
  • 8x10 ET 58 (-7mm offset = 7mm more backspace and push towards fender)

Fairly easy... but it would depend on your experience. More details on the install on my post at rennlist.

Definitely improved... My stock 996 felt very floaty and unsettled in corners. HUGE improvement for little $! As good as $3K PSS10's or $10K JRZ's? Perhaps not, but most casual drivers (me included) have not the skill, patience, or need to dial in a multi-adjustable coilover.

Yup! Upgraded to HLT Grand Prix and ran my iPhone as a camera with the ipad slaved at the track last week. Unfortunately the iPad doesn't capture much except my shifting! Here's a link a track video from the outing, didn't bother overlaying the second camera. Pretty crappy lap, I was distracted right at the beginning by my V1 going off... There was actually a trooper on the highway next to the track running radar!

Looks great, how does it handle the bumps, is it harsh? Let me rephrase, my wife already complains "the Porsche is too bumpy", will this make her not want to ride in the car? If so, that might be a good thing, J/K!

I did the full Bilstein PSS9 coil over package years ago - a bit of a waste in my case since I just have it set at ROW M030 ride height and recoil. With hindsight on my next car I will probably just do springs, roll bar, drop links, and of course the all-important engine protection plate. It's the way to go for most of us. Good choices.
