PSE Question

Anyone have an exploded view of the Porsche Sport Exhuast system. I have an ' 04 C2. Having issue with it not engaging- seems like it is always in quiet mode although "loud" is the default position. Going to an Indy next week who knows Pcars but not the PSE. The engagement lever seems stuck as it can't be moved. Actuator and vacuum hoses are apparently working from listening to them. Replys appreciated.

I wouldn't take it to an indy that knows Porsche's but doesn't know anything about the PSE, take it to someone who knows the PSE.

The way the PSE works is there are two separate exhaust pipes, one has a flap which remains closed in the normal setting, which should be the default setting, when you engaged the PSE mode the actuator creates a vacuum which should open the flap creating more sound and air flow. The other way it works is if you really get on it a vacuum is created and opens the flap for a short duration. If the flap remains open then it sounds like th actuator is bad and keeping the flap open.

So take her out and get on it and see if the sound changes, if it doesn't then the flap is stuck which would indicate to me it a bad actuator or the flap is frozen in place for some reason.

Question is; did it ever work for you? Maybe the previous owner rigged it to keep it open? Also, make sure there are no loose connections.

I got the car 3 months. Everything except the PSE works properly. I had it on a lift a while back at a muffler shop & an Audi dealer and neither could move the passenger side lever (both thought it should be able to move with a hand).
Someone thought moisture in the exhaust has caused it to freeze up. Hoping the Porsche master mechanic can get it to work w/o replacing stuff.

Flagg996tt has it reversed. The default position is with the bypass pipe open for the loud mode. The vacuum valve closes this bypass pipe which forces the exhaust gas through the muffler.

Other forums have also stated the default setting is the louder exhaust. Personally I think Porsche got backwards- less should be the default IMHO
