Hip replacment and getting into a C4

Just bought a C4 auto, found out I couldn't handle a stick shift. Now I know why my left hip is gone, Question any one out there know how to enter a 911 with out the hip moving more then 90 degrees. I have been trying to no avail.

That is an interesting question. I don't think it is possible.

I know several guys over on www.rennlist.com who have a hip replacement and drive a 911.

Are you unable to move your hip beyond 90 degrees, or are you following doctor's orders? Is this expected to be permanent, or will you have a greater range of motion with physical therapy? Just curious...

the 90 degree limit is during post surgery recovery, till my muscles get strong enough to hold the ball in place. I just cannot bare not to drive the C4.

I understand your affinity for the Carrera but health and pain free life is far more important than anything else. If your hip can't handle the 911, maybe you could try a Cayenne. They are much easier to enter and exit.

r38johnson, I also have a hard time getting in my 911. I have had my spine fused at the lower three levels. To get in the car, I reach across with my right arm to the side of the passenger seat. I put my right leg in first extending it toward the pedals (straight). I brace myself against the floor and the back of the drivers seat with my right leg and upper back. I am then able to bring my left leg into the car, while keeping my lower back, hips, and legs almost straight. My driver's seat back is significantly reclined since I am over 6 feet tall. Warning...this entry method trashes the front of the lower seat cushion. Good luck and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

As you are in the recovery phase after surgery, most likely with a good prognosis, you should not stress the hip. Doing so would be downright stupid (sorry, but lets be blunt here).
The risk is failed prothesis, reop or sub par functionality.

Regards

The restrictioms are only temporary, usually for the first 3 mos. the long term benefits will outweight 3 mos of not enjoying our 911.

Exactly. The doctor will tell you when you can resume normal activity. My wife had that surgery and she gets into my 996 now, but didn't even try until cleared to do so.
