Engine start: easier cold than warm?

3rd week ownership of my '98 C2, I have done only 500km on the car.
Everything has been ok so far. There was a minor suspicious coolant loss and I replaced the old coolant cap (01) with the newest 04 cap. And guess what? it helps
I notice one thing and wondering if anyone has the same observation; when I start the engine cold (ex. First start in the morning), the engine always starts right up. However when I need to start when the engine is hot (ex. Stop at the pump), it is a bit sluggish and needs a few more cranks to fire the engine.
Is this normal? Or a symptom of some bigger issue?

Could be the battery or the starter. Check and see how old your battery is. If it's the starter,It can be done with a few tools in the garage. Not that easy but I got it done. After the new starter was installed it was like night and day.

Nope. That would not be normal. As stated, have the battery tested because it's far better to replace the battery before you get stuck somewhere and have to load in your codes to get your radio working again. And, of course, the hassle of being stuck with a dead battery when it could have been alleviated before a complete failure.

Thanks for the replies.
Judged from the voltage reading at the dash, the numbers looked ok; starting up at 14V and staying slightly below 14 when run hot. I have looked at here and other forums and found it could be the battery, starter, alternator or wires you name it!
Anyway going to do the oil service coming Saturday, will ask them to check the electrical powere system and the damp area around the tranny (tip). Hopefully nothing major!
