LN Retrofit life?

Hey guys, maybe I'm completely retarded, and forgive me if I don't know the answer to an obvious question, BUT.. I have not see anybody discuss the "life" of an LN retrofit. I just had my 02+ 996 stock IMS replaced, and the mechanic told me that I should expect to do the complete "Solution" within 50k miles BECAUSE the retrofit has a lifespan of 45-60k miles.

Anybody else heard this? I really thought this was a permanent solution... Am I being "swindled"?

Thanks,

Just like any bearing, it will eventually wear out. I have heard, just replace them with every clutch change.

I haven't seen it posted lately, but LN used to refer to their bearing as having a life of 50k miles...and call it a serviceable item.

Every clutch change? Guess that leaves me out on the cold with the original clutch in my 02 Boxster and it with over 273K miles on it...
