I tried to fit 19"s

So contrary to all the suggestions and advises of the nice people here but for the sake of experimentation :-) I tried to fit 19" rims on my c2 NB.

Front rims 19" x 8.5"
tires 245 x 35
With 3mm spacer

Rear rims 19" × 9.5"
Tires 275 x 30
With no spacers & fender roll up

Guess what? The rear rims didn't rub at all and looked really cool! Unfortunately, the right front tire is rubbing on the fender liner :-( strange that the left tire is not (close but not rubbing). Is this a camber issue? Is there a solution to this? Do I take out the fender liner? Any suggestions? I really like the rims. They made my 99 pcar looked really updated hence my persistence. I'm sure many will say go with the 18"s instead. If I really wanted to force these 19's, what can I do?

you can push the fender liner in a little. the metal bracket that holds it in place will bend slightly. if it is a slight rub. if one side clears the liner then the other side should also .

thanks for the response. Just a follow on question; I'm assuming you have done this mod - Wouldn't bending any metal bracket at the back of the liner affect the radiator scoop or fan? I'm worried I'll damage delicate components at the back affecting the cooling system.

Or you can try a heat gun and massaging the plastic in a little in that specific area. Pro's do it all the time on show cars.

What's the offsets and you have a full pic of your car?

Thanks. Yeah the tire shop recommended I do that as well. I'll also try to take out the whole fender liner and see exactly what I'm dealing with. I'll post some pix of what it looks like in there. Or maybe I cam initially search for existing pix...

I'm not sure about the offset but I'll try to find out. Here's the full picture of the car...

Finally!

Just to update the thread - finally I successfully mounted my 19's on my 99 C2 Narrow body. The front right tire now fits after doing 3 things: changing the tire size, installinh 3mm spacers and replacing a fastening clip on my fender liner :-)

Front tire size is now 235 x 19 x 35 (instead of 245)
Rear tires remained 275 x 19 x 30

Just sharing the picture of the project car with you guys...

thanks you all!

I got a local fiberglass shop make a replica of a certain 911 kit (not sure maybe GT2?) with slight modifications. I haven't got the rear wing fitted yet though. Here's another shot. Sorry its dark in my garage but it's a good view of the front lip...

265/35 ZR 18 (rear) tires
7.5x18, 50mm offset (front) wheels
10x18, 65mm offset (rear) wheels

You may have to use spacers for different offsets. You may encounter rubbing issues with wider tires and wheels or with large discrepancies in offset. You should be able to use a 8x18 wheel with a 50 or 52mm offset in the front without an issue.

Ok, so i have kind of the same problem. I have the rims and tires specified above, but i ordered 285/30R18 for the rear tires. I have my fenders rolled, so no problem there.

BUT i am curently using spacers 15mm (with the 265/35 R18) can I continue using them, or should I skip them just on the rear wheal???

I think it would be fine without the spacers, but you may prefer the aesthetics of the spacers. I'd try both and see what you like.

Ok, so keep the spacers in the front, and skip it in the back? If i keep the spacers is there any chance of rubbing? Sry for asking so much, but I am not so good on Wheels.

Btw, fullmetaljacket, GREAT LOOKING CAR!!! (and sry for steeling your thread a bit)

If you are using the sizes you mentioned, then you shouldn't have rubbing issues.

Personally, I prefer spacers in the back and no spacers in the front. It's a personal preference. A friend of mine runs 7mm spacers in the front and 14mm spacers in the rear.

Ok, so with NB 01 996, no rubbing issues with 285/30-18 and 15 mm spacers, (rolled fenders) in the rear.

And if I skip the spacers, the Wheel will come more into the body, and still no rubbing issues?

It that correct?

Cause, right now it seams wery tight with the 265/35-r18 and 15 mm spacers. Or at least it looks wery tight (when I am looking at the fender)I m a bit worried that spacers wont work.

And if they dont work, do I also have to remove front spacers, or can I leave them?
