Keep your 996 and buy an A4 1.8T instead of the Scion. You will never forgive yourself for selling the 996.

I have the M3 as a second car and it's been great for those things I won't do in the P-car....

Hi John,

I would get a used M5, M3 or an S4. All practical(except M3 is 2 door) and styling is nice. I currently have an 02 M5 as my daily driver and it's definitely a beast. BTW, my brother is selling an 02 titanium SMG M3. It was my previous car that has H&R coilovers race suspension, Eisenman exhaust, and 19" SSR GT3. I would buy it back from him but I just picked up the M5.

I'm sure this will be an unpopular suggestion here, but how about a C6 Corvette? - [For the money] nothing can touch one in all out performance,
they get surprisingly good gas mileage and their build quality is comparable to most anything in their price segment. - I think one would make an excellent commuter vehicle. ...just my two cents. = )

Hi Mel,
I've sent you a PM. The car has about 33K miles and new tires(SO3s). It's located in Irvine.

I hear ya, man. Yeah, the mod bug catches you and it can get very pricey.

Have you thought about the new Boxster?

Nah...here is the prob...the wife likes more luxurious riding cars...she loves the Range Rover, but it never gets driven, like 20 miles a week or something. The Carrera gets 500 miles a week. She hates driving the Carrera so it gets all the miles with my commute. So the answer is to A. sell the Carrera, and buy something we BOTH like...not a Pcar, not too stiff of a suspension, smoother ride, etc...or B. me to get another car to commute in, in addition to the Carrera which will be a weekend car for me, because she does not like it. She also thinks its quite an expensive "toy" for just me to drive. She doesn't like to ride in it either....So the Boxster is out....Hell I sold my old Boxster because she didnt like it...She said the Carrera is better, but still not smooth or comfortable. So thats the dilemma.....I also need something FUN to drive 500 miles a week....I think we are going with option A...get a 15K car under warranty that I can drive the sh*t out of, and then drive the Carrera as my other car...the next question is....What would you buy for $15K? It needs to be fun, reliable and good on gas...and look decent......I also have that image thing in my industry....you wont believe how many business mettings invole P-Car converstaion....I doubt they would have the save enthusiasm in the Volvo...LOL.....

I'm having the same problem as you. My budget started out at $17k. Unfortunately, it's now at $30k since I just can't find a car I'm happy with for $17...new or used.

Remember, if you're driving 500 miles a week, it's got to be fun or you'll be *****ing about the ****ty drive every time you're in your daily driver.

Good luck.

J:

That's a tough one.

15K. If you are going with a new car, I would say that the Scion would be kinda interesting. If you can go a little higher, why not a Toyota Prius. The Prius actually starts quite a few conversations given the price of gasoline these days. Could be interesting. In fact, I think the Prius would spark more conversations than an Audi or a run of the mill BMW. Just, my opinion...

BTW, you and the wife up for Bandera on September 10th?
