Quick question. My air bag light is on. I am fairly sure it has something to do with a current temperamental seat belt buckle issue. My question is: Does an illuminated air bag light mean my air bag is off?

 

That's an indication something is wrong with the air bag system, needs to be looked at.

 

The same thing happened to me about 2 months after buying the car. The consensus at the time is IF it is the common belt buckle problem the airbags will work normally. That being said it is a safety issue and I sure don't want anyone to find out firsthand. It's an easy and cheap DIY. I paid ~$50 for mine, another $6 for the automotive bit to remove the seat bolts, and under 2 hours total. I heard my local indy shop charges ~$150 which seems about right.
