i have a canon s40.... i like it it's comapct and very sturdy.. it's actually my wife's camera.. i used to have an old nikon camera.. but in all honesty i like the nikon over the canon, i beleieve the nikon takes better pictures especially when on close up.. but the greta thing about the canon is u can take videos w/sound in your camera and it is evry compact at the same time ...

one thing make sure u get a camera witha good optical zoom, coz digital zoom isnt that great..also one piece of advice,, to take great looking pictures make sure your resolution is set at the highest or the one below that.. it's not worth it if you take picture with low resolution..

I bought a Sony Cybershot DSC-F505V when it came out a few years ago. It is listed as a 3.3megapixel which was pretty good at the time. I think the new version is about 5.24mp. It has all the bells and whistles and Ithink it takes pretty good photos, but it is a bit clunky to take around. It is the Sony camera with the big barrel lense that swivels around...
