Replacing Rear Shocks in Cab.

More ? . . . 1999, 911, C2, Cab Needs new rear shocks. I've found good info in Rentech and the Bentley manual on coupes but absolutely no info on how best to change the rear shocks in a Cabriolet. Mostly need info on how to get at the top mounting bolts. Can they be gotten to with the top down (open)? I'm going out now and see what I can discover . . . and hopefully not break anything. Thanks in advance for the help. Larry

You have to partially open it, disconnect the cables and pull some covering out of the way.

If you read the full renntech.org thread (not the procedure itself, but the member posts) about installing the M030 RoW suspension kit, you'll find post #50. That post shares my experience installing that kit on my 2002 996 Cab and includes a link to another renntech article which explains in detail how you access the mechanical bits behind the rear seats.

The basic procedure for accessing the top rear strut mounts is as the previous poster outlined, but the renntech articles provide a lot more detail. I found the whole procedure to be quite simple after reading them.

Good luck!
