Replacement Battery

I went to try and pick up an Interstate MTP-93 for my C4S but I was told this battery model was discontinued. They ended up giving me a MTP94R as they say this is the replacement for the MTP-93. This battery does not have a vent and it is shorter in length. What are you guys putting in for replacement batteries?

I had an Optima Red Top, it gave me nothig but problems, from day 1, I would leave my car for 3 days, and then I needed a boost, took it into Interstate, they would recharge it, and tell me that there is nothing wrong with the battery, the battery was into Interstate every year I had it, 4 years. When I took my car out of storage, decided in putting a EXIDE FP-AGML5/49, would leave for a week, no problems at all, it's a big battery and heavy.

How long does this one last? The price sounds too good to not give it a try.

Pep Boys - Bosch battery....$110.00....drop in replacement for the original. In fact, it looks exactly like the factory one that came out of my car. I do not know this for sure, but, it would not surprise me if Bosch makes the battery for Porsche.

All the best,

Ray

You need a vented battery. Most batteries are made by one of a few companies. All they do is change the sticker. Just buy one with the best warranty and you will be fine.

I remember reading in Consumer Reports that Johnson Controls make the majority of batteries including Walmart and Bosch,

BTW, I bought a 05 Dodge Ram diesel in Oct. 04, sameoriginal batteries. startslike new till today, think it has something to do with diesels don't need spark once they are started like gas engines

Would I run into issues if I don't put in a vented battery?

corrosion of the metal and wiring in a confined space. I believe it was the 993 that had a really bad issue with this.

Same as I use. No problems and should last 4 years at the least. Lock car fully every time you get out. It takes more out of the battery unlocked than it does on a locked car.

Thanks all. I will be returning the Interstate battery today and heading to Walmart to pick up a H7 replacement battery. The closest Pep Boys is about 30 minutes away and on their website, I am only finding a battery that cost $180 for my 996. I am assuming they went up in price? I'm looking at a group 49 battery correct?

I just checked my local Pep Boys for a battery for my car (99 c2 size 48) and the price was 145.99 (Bosch).
