Lease Question

Can you buy out of your lease at any time?

For example, Say you have a four year lease and during the first year you decide you like the car and just want to purchase it. Can you and at what price?

Thanks

ESK is infamous around these parts
You can get of a lease anytime. You just call the leasing company and they will give you a payoff and that's the vehicles cost. It's the same concept as financing a vehicle - there's always a payoff. However, you would almost never want to do this because usually the payoff is much higher than the actual value of the vehicle.

Yes.. but

I contemplated purchasing my last car (2000 C2) out of the lease with 6 months left on the lease..

In most cases, they will charge you a 'purchase' fee for buying it out early. They quoted me $1,400 for an early buyout..

Your best bet is to wait until 2 months before the lease is up, wait for them to call you to find out what you want to do with the car. Play it smart, tell them you like the car, but the residual is too high and you are looking at other options. They will most likely drop the price for you to make it more attractive..

I ended up selling my car out of the lease, and getting an 03 C4S..
