I know the tiptronic is confusing but is there any techs out there that can chat about this.I drove the 2000 996 about 10 miles or so in driving reduced mode and brought it back and hooked up the durametrics and got a more codes..Basically all the regulators 1,2,3,4 codes were up and the speed sensor code was on..Any idea if this is the valve body that needs replaced?I still have the bad one that came out of the car originally. Can I remove the valve body out of that one and do a good solvent bath and disasimble?Speed sensor should be located behind the vb correct?I thank you in advance guys..Ive worked on tips before and have never had one light up all the regs like this...Does the car maybe need to go to local Porsche shop for different computer work I can t do with the durametrics?

First double check you have the correct tranny and yes TCU would be my guess. IIRC, I thought you had to reprogram the TCU but I'm not 100% on that in your case.

To check just compare serial numbers on transplant tranny to the numbers on the durametrics read out?I know both trannies are 2000 date code..But ill reply back..Also I was thinking of removing the pan again and ck wiring to the regulators again..So I guess the durametrics cant reprogram anything only turn off warning lights? Thanks for the reply..

Can the valve body be cleaned and rebuilt..Or should I let a shop tactical that..lol..Ive done plenty of vb's on Hondas and mazdas..But Porsche is a little bit more expensive..Are TCU's ok to get used off ebay?Don't really want to buy new..

Bringing car into shop tomorrow so we can raise up the car and ck the numbers..The donor car was same year and type, but we want to recheck..I'm also gonna warm it up via idle and ck the fluid level again..you almost need small wedges to keep by the lift to get these cars perfectly level..lol...I'll report back with updates..I don't know if I can download pics yet being new to this forum..But I will try..We have also tracked down another a9600 g50 tranny out of a 99 996..The amount 1000.00 shipped..used ofcourse but working condition..It would be cheaper by far to just slap another unit in there and be down..I can take plenty of pics..Only takes about 12 hrs...The thing is we don't want to be in the same problem of the computer not noticing the tranny..If anybody has any info on if the computer will relearn transmissions it would help us out..We have a Durametrics but it will not clear them for some reason...Thanks for all your help out there..

Has anyone on this site ever changed out a tiptronic unit in a 996? Did the car go back into limp mode when installation was done?
