996 hard to start when hot

I just bought my first Porsche and it's a 99 996. It doesn't turn over very good when it's hot, almost like the battery is dead. The battery is fine, had it checked and under load. It starts fine first thing in the morning or when it sits for 30mins or more. I have been told about the power lead wire that runs from the battery to the starter, the starter itself or the crank postion sensor. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this issue. Thanks!

Yes, it can be any of the above. Check the easiest and cheapest first which would be the cable. Use a multimeter and make sure there isn't any voltage drop.

But based on your cars age, my guess would be the starter.

Positive battery cable from starter to alternator to jump point, coolant sensor, or starter going bad. B
Because the particular type of difficult starting that you describe is often a result of loose or corroded connections between the starter and the battery and/or ground. Verify that all of the connections are tight there and also verify that your battery connections are tight and secure at the terminal posts and that the negative cable also has a good, secure ground.
