LED tail lights
I know there have been plenty of posts on this subject, and i can assure y'all i've scrolled through the last 190 of 668 pages of threads so dont ask this question lightly.
Is there a definitive LED light that is deemed acceptable by the majority for the 996? Im looking to update my rear lights with LED's on my C4S? Only issue is, what to do with my reflector?
what i do see are plenty of......... How about these, bit cheap, bit ugly comments etc

If you read through all the threads then you probably are aware that they don't make led taillight assemblies for the wide body.
If you are asking about led bulb replacements, any of the 180-360 degree 3-5w LED bulbs should suffice. I have the led bulb arrangement in my BMW since they don't make led taillights for that either.

You will soon have only one choice for a complete after-market replacement.

I believe if you just install led bulbs you'll need the resistor to keep it from flashing fast and ensure they are Canbuss Error Free.
The LED's use less power and that needs to be compensated for, that's why the resistor. I personally would not do it because you have to cut the wire to place the resistor inline.
Just my opinion.

As for inline resistor, it's totally safe and I've had led bulbs in a few cars now since they came out.
There is an alternative without having to splice in resistors which I've done on one of my cars. You can program out the bulb checking from the ecu and for the fast blinking for the turn signals, replace the turn signal relay. This would be the most clean and OEM like setup.
Sorry I wasn't that clear it was meant as a two part question
LEDs which make/style are most popular for 996s
Can't believe there are none for the C4S but know about the wiser lens big hips means the average isn't compatible. I considered led bulbs only but can't deal with the aggravation and wiring issues. I'd prefer to leave it 'as is' for resale purposes in years to come and refit any parts changed back to stock.
I'll leave things well alone then.
