Hi everyone!

I've been lurking at Rennlist for years and now that I'm back on the (re)search for a replacement Porsche I thought I'd add this site too.

I had a beautiful fully restored '71 914 for about 15 years (I called it my 'trainer' Porsche) that I lost in an engine fire 10 years ago, then bought a new Jeep Rubicon in '05 (it is Minnesota, and it doubled as my convertible) to tide me over until I could be back in the market for a summer DD Porsche.

I used to follow late 80's 930s (the "Dream Car"), and coming back after a bit of a hiatus I see 930's prices have gone insane in my absence so it's looking like an early '00 - '02 996TT might be the route to go. A friend says if I'm branching away from the 930 I should look at an '08 or '09 Cayman instead of the 996TT for the same money. Has anyone gone from a 996TT to a Cayman (or vice versa), and if so what are your thoughts on one over the other?

I'm suspecting the Cayman has more depreciation ahead compared to the TT, but the TT might have higher maintenance?

Thanks! I just realized this could/should have been posted to the 996 Turbo page. But as long as I'm here, my friend who recommended I look at the Cayman did so because he thinks a naturally aspirated engine is a better driving experience over a turbo because of the turbo lag. Of course the real test will be to start test driving once our roads clear (April?), but does anyone here have thoughts on their driving experiences between a turbo and a NA engine? Has anyone gone from a turbo to a NA and been happier with the change?
