...and I can completely understand your choice of going with the evo being the dealer/installer advantages for you there. Being the TPC factory is 30 mins from my house* and the kit will give me GT2 TT power with "turbo-like torque" I have to look at my situation too

well, they got it together yesterday but it's running like ****. apparently my MAF is already shot. guess i was getting away with it until the blower went on and changed everything.

car's still under warranty and they're going to try and get porsche to replace it. not likely though. that's such bull**** that a car with 18K miles has **** like this go wrong and the factory won't fix it. we ought to have free lifetime repairs on RMS leaks and MAF's since it's a **** design on their part. Lucky me, i now have had both go bad.

I wonder if that affected your N/A dyno runs also...keep us posted on how it all works out with the new MAF...I wonder why the MAF's on the 996 are such **** under boost...is there any mod available to replace this with another?

Did they try cleaning the MAF? Worked wonders for me:

i mentioned that to him about cleaning it and he said he wasn't sure if it would help in this case. i don't really know enough about it to diagnose it either way. probably couldn't hurt to pop a new one in there. porsche says 30K on the plugs, but we just swapped those with the install and they looked pretty crappy after 18K. i just hope they warranty it as i don't feel like chunking out another 200 bones on this project. as it is, looks like i'll end up spending close to a grand in these little extras on top of the base install (plugs, new center grill, MAF, coolant, etc...).

it's not the money, just the point. i hate spending anything extra after chunking out this much cash for a mod. especially something porsche should warranty without even asking any questions since they know they have a problem on their hands. it's obviously a ****ty part like the rms design. when it comes up, they should just fix it, with no grief. how many other cars have you owned that you had to replace the MAF on? seems like you constantly see a thread or two on here regarding the damn MAF.

and btw, turned out to be $300 for the maf. but on the bright side, the car runs very nicely with no cel's. dealer told me that the boxster and the 996 have the same part number. i didn't know that, but i guess that's a good thing since i know some of the tt guys have swithed to the boxster maf's for more durability.

i took it for a short spin around the block today. i am bringing it home tomorrow.

still a little early for driving impressions. i think i need to spend some more time driving it.
