Must be the updated version I guess. The rubber bushing does not fit at all even with heavy forcing so I decided to shave down some rubber. There's 3 holes on the left side of the heat shield. Whats's it for?? Overall, fitment was ok, a bit tight with this new heat shield. It look great though, however the rubbing everyone mention does rub. You can't lower it down any lower cause the filter are bottom out to the base. There's a slight rub on mine from pic#4. It's not noticeable from a far. Guess I'll check it again after a few long drive if the rubbing get any worse. But for now I can live with it. IMO, the down tube needs to be more angle to the right away from the fan housing. Or go with smaller filter so the down tube can bend down lower to have more clearance

It looks like I have the same shield as you
Looks too big
My reaches the far right side of the engine compartment like yours and there's no support on that side so it vibrates against the body
Also wondered what the holes on the other side are for
Had same issue with rubber grommets/bolts
Don't fit very well in the chassis holes

997 heat shield

I think I got it figured out. If you look at Fabspeed site under 997 intake, the 3 holes is for an extension shield. If you still have some of the nuts & bolts that come with the intake, there's 3 black plastic pins. That's for covering up the 3 holes. I was wondering why there's so many nut's & bolts left. Well this solved the mystery. Was our shields made for the 997 or is it one size fits all?? If you look at member "bigdaddy" pic below, his shield is smaller.

I don't know if it's just mine but does anyone else oil dip stick binds with oil tube neck. It's like you have to yank it out. Also with this shield, you have to stretch the MAF cable to its max distance to fit the opening because it sits so far up.

that's where the noise comes from, Thanks for pointing that out. Time to bring out the saw.

That's about what mine looks like too.
Does anyone else have the issue of the ends of the filters rubbing the strut mount/sai?

I'm really surprised how tolerant some of you are considering a $800 intake shouldn't have any issues. Also considering most of you buy it due to the aesthetics besides the sound, this issue sort of ruins the first aspect.

I'm not tolerant, I'm pissed. However, as I mentioned before, previously fabspeed did not respond to any attempts for assistance/resolution.
Just trying to get some resolution now, and am surprised at how common the issues are.
As I said before, for $800, I expected better. Should have followed my friends advice and avoided fabspeed altogether.

You are correct, it shouldn't have any issues. I strongly suggest anyone who has an issues to contact us so we can help get the intake adjusted.

RGrove,

I tried reaching out last week, but had never heard back from you. See below. I will PM you, if you can provide a phone number or email we can contact you directly.

If there is a fitment issue that cannot be remedied, please contact Service@Fabspeed.com and CC myself - Joe.Neill@Fabspeed.com or call us at 215-646-4945. If there is something wrong with your product, we will take care of it, if it is something that can be adjusted - we will walk you through it.

How do you propose to adjust it?
That is the whole point of this thread
There is no adjustment to be made
That's what we have been trying to show you

I think you need to redesign the intake or else look at the fact that the intake fits differently on the 996 vs the 997

I bought mine from my local parts supplier/ authorized fabspeed distributor
Not directly from fabspeed
How do you suggest I proceed

you can push the filters a little more inward so it won't rub.

exactly, there is NO more room to adjust. the right filter is to its max against the shield. The left filter barely have any room to move. Maybe if the filter is a little smaller, its possible to have some wiggle room.

Well your shields look really way bigger than my. I have no issues with the Filters so I think you might have the 997 versions.

My Filters doesnt hit at any point when installed. The Intake is just hold by the bracket on top.

Oh I just remembered that I had another issue. The L-Bracket which holds the shield broke so I had to built me one by myself.

I have been saying the same thing for a long time. Customer service is reactive at best. But once they have your $$$ they seem much less concerned then before a sale.

Be careful to not push the tube too far into the intake filter or you won't be able to take advantage of the built in velocity stack(not sure if new version have them) which contributes to better air flow and ultimately hp.
