Today's mystery:
* 2002 996 Carrera 4 cab. 78k miles. Running perfectly.
* Pulled out of garage to run an errand. Had just swept and cleaned up garage floor earlier in the day.
* When I returned home 1/2 hour later, backed into the garage, heard loud POP, sounded like I backed over something that broke, stopped car, got out and looked on floor of garage and found THIS.
* No change in car, no difference in sound or performance...
* Looked up the part number stamped into the part on Suncoast, but no hits.
* Hint: recently had water pump, belt tensioners, belt pulleys replaced (about 2 weeks ago).
* Does anybody recognize this as a part that may have fallen off as a result of faulty re-assembly after this work?
It looks like it is a cover for a belt of some kind, did you use your vacume cleaner when you cleaned the car? If so, I'll bet it is a belt cover from that, like an end cover.
