Engine stuttering, little power in gear

So I turn on my car and drove it down the block fine when I had to turn around home because I forgot something. As I put it first gear I noticed I had little power and the rpms were climbing slow. Made it to second gear and same thing. I glanced down to make sure I was in the right gear and I was. I pull over and put the car in neutral and the engine began to rev on its own about 400-600 rpm. Like the engine was stuttering or throbbing if you will. I put in first gear to pull in my garage and still little power. The feeling you get when you put it in a higher gear than it should be and have to wait slowly to climb speed for the gear you're trying to reach. That's the feeling I had in first and second gear. Any thoughts?

Sounds like it could be the ignition coils. Have the coils been changed? Was it wet out during the drive? Could also be something related to the timing/timing chain on one bank. Are you getting a Check Engine Light? If so, do you have a code reader? What code(s) are you getting?

Haven't changed the ignition coils, wasn't wet out and have no check engine light on. No code reader as well

Get a code reader and check..some failures take 2 drive cycles to set off the CEL, even though the code will be set in the "background" in DME it will not illuminate the CEL until "confirmed" on the second drive cycle! Get the code and post it for some help...

Reads like a fuel supply problem. Do you perchance have a 4 model? The dual saddle tank fuel pick up system is complicated and if anything goes wrong the fuel pickup can go off even fail completely.

Even if just a RWD only model the symptoms still read like a fuel supply problem. First thing that comes to mind if the fuel pump is starting to fail. Sometimes they just fail outright. But other times they can linger and for a short time perhaps even work just fine.
