I'm just curious to see how people think these two cars would perform against one another. Yeah, I know an m3 coupe even w/smg would spank an auto c2 cab any day of the week, but I'm curious how an m3 cab would do. Even with an extra 33 hp, the m3 cab still weighs around 3700 lbs, plus the smg may or may not be quicker. What do you guys think?

 

well from experience, the SMG is faster then manual not by too much though, depending on the driver. and even with the extra wieght the speed difference isn't that noticable, a little heavier off the line but once its going after 3rd its basically the same untill its time to handle

just a hypothetical race, I did consider an m3 cab when I was looking for my 996 but having come from another porsche prior, I just couldn't give up the intoxicating sound of that flat six, even if it is watercooled now.

 

Straight line, M3 would win.

Otherwise, I'd think it's a tie.

Personally, M3 wins my vote.

Whats the consensous about a C4S coupe (6spd) vs. m3 coupe (smg or 6) as far as straight line acceleration goes?

 

I would think about even b/c althoug the M3 gains a few ponies on the c4S, the all wheel drive pretty much eliminates traction issues if launched properly.

 

having had both cars, i think the M3 may have a slight edge, not by much!! just my opinon.
