We have Fabpseed on the Turbo for a few months now and so far are happy with it, IMO the bypass is too aggressive for street use but if you like it go for it, Fabspeed is a good choice.

What most people do not realize is that the turbos muffle the the exhaust sound quite a bit on those bypasses. I doubt Robyn will have it on her car that long (non turbo). I warned her at the last get together in San Jose. I would just wait because she might sell it to you really quick .
I'm known as a young whiper snapper (30) at the race track and that exhaust was way too loud for me. I can't imagine that be used on a street car. I think my open exhaust on my 911 racecar is quieter....... really.
Robyn- becareful of your neighbors, rice rockets drivers, and cops. You will be louder than ALL Harley Davidsons.

To each her own. Have fun....and who knows... you may keep it. Say hi to everyone

Bypass Install

I had planned to do this install on Sunday. However, I had a nice chat with the guys at Fabspeed, who informed me that they do not have 03 pipes in stock. None fabricated at all. Several for 02 or later. Apparently the 03 pipes are (xmm) longer in length then the previous years due to a wider bumper put on the car.

They are making them for me, but this delays things. I'm glad I called to check. He said they would ship in about a week and a half.

I will reschedule the work for another weekend before Christmas. I'm bummed!!

I'll make sure to post the date so if anyone is interested, they are welcomed to come by.

Thanks,
Robyn

Robyn,
Thank you for your update. I only heard the sound clip of bypass from fabspeed website and it's so nice. I was thinking of getting it, but people said might be too loud. So I want to hear yours first before I make final decision. Please keep me posted.

No problem hardway, I'll keep you posted. I too loved the way it sounded on the Fabspeed website, it was awesome. Plus a few folks have sent along their clips. I've heard two Turbo's with the bypass, Pete and Sharky's. I thought theirs was LOUD, but I liked it. (I know..I'm weird!) I am not sure how much louder it will be on a naturally aspirated car, but we are going to find out! I have a tendency to never do anything half way...so we'll see what happens. I've got Chad's words of warning in the back of my head though. If it is too loud, then I will sell it. It's such a cheap alternative that it's hard not to just try it out to see if I like it rather then forking out $1500 for something else. So, I do hope you can make it over.

ProV1. Yes, that is straight pipes. (Pipes that hook straight onto the cats, and I drop the mufflers off 60lbs YEAH BABY!) And it's well...probably as colorful as you say Fabspeed does sell regular upgraded exhaust systems www.fabspeed.com But who want's regular?

cool. i know some bimmer dudes who do that also on the E39 M5s. although they usually have local muffler shops custom make those straight pipes for less than $80.

but be ready to get pulled over everytime u floor it, unless u have some buddies at your local pooooolice dept.

You could have a muffler shop make a set of "bypass pipes" for less than $50, if you want something for the track . Too loud on the street IMO. I have seen threads like this many times over the last 3-4 years and 9 times out of 10 the owner removes the bypass pipes after a week or less.
