Fabspeed Muffler BYPASS
Fabspeed Muffler BYPASS
Is anybody using this for everyday driving?
Without constantly stomping on the throttle... how bareable is this for normal daily commute?
Just heard the Fabspeed sound clip and it sounds amazingly solid and very much close to the cup car.
I have a pair of maxflow mufflers waiting to be installed. Just curious....
Thx

i use them everyday. i can't go back to mufflers. the shock and awe on people's faces when i zoom by is better than a bajillion US Navy cruise missiles.
once you get upto cruizing speed and are just cruisin, its not bad at all...on the gas, its loud. otherwise..if you're gungho or used 2 drive a muscle car back in the day, its not too bad.

I am....but I am certifiable...you need to learn how to drop into stealth mode (under 3k) and how to limp off the line when you are around a cop...if you are on it whenever one is around you will probably get a ticket...if you are hardcore it is bearable on a daily basis...I like the weight loss but have to put the mufflers back on to run at Laguna Seca...at Button Willow it sounds like a cup car...since you have the maxflows try them first...if not loud enough for you then the bypass pipes might be the ticket....
Ive been running mine for nearly 2 months now. At first I was like what have I done!?!!? Now im absolutely in love with it. Im a salesman at a Porsche dealership and everytime I get into a new car(even a C4S with Motorsports sound) im disappointed! Long live the bypass! I do have one complant though. A car should be faster than it is louder. Mine is pretty much close to stock.

Yeah I hear ya lol I actually am very happy wit the power. The only thing I really want to do is chip it. Suspension is also on my mind. Now about this flywheel. Does it make a big difference and how much does it cost??? Ive heard you lose some low end torque. Enlighten me I am very interested.

the flywheel pretty much halfs the deadweight of the stock flywheel and because of this loss of dead wieght, the engine's power is used more efficiently. I'm not sure if this shows up on the dyno or not, it should/might because more power will be sent 2 the wheels because there's not as much lost to trying 2 move the heavier flywheel.
The Pros: the car WILL be faster/Rev harder. Deceleration will also be quicker so your going to have to adjust your driving accordingly.
the cons: there is some flywheel chatter at idle and i think when moving off from first gear. since you're living with bypass pipes this may not be a big issue for you (and i'm guessing you get a discounted install rate since you work for porsche, so its definitly woth trying out).
costs on flywheels vary quite a bit. The 3.4L and 3.6L Non-Turbo share the same flywheel and the turbo is a different unit (non turbo is 8-bolt and turbo is 9-bolt).
You're looking to spend around 800-1200$US depending on manufacturer and whatnot.
cheers.

Question guys, i have my evo exhaust with no cats and its loud as hell from the outside, but its a turbo car so it's quieter than an NA car with the same setup. My question is, doing the muffler bypass pipes and having no cats, will it be louder or quieter than a 996 with muffler bypass pipes or GT3, because ive heard both in person and it wasnt bad at all but people are saying ont he turbo its extremely loud
a turbo with no cats and no muffler's will be loud. your probably going to be a few db louder than a 996 NA without mufflers since you've pulled the cats as well.
if you don't mind the volume of a 996/gt3 with muffler bypasses, then throw them on your car. i've had a 996TT rip by me with the bypass pipes as i was crossing the street and it was loud by conventional standards...but it wasn't obnoxious, hell when you find out what car its comming from it's almost something that you expect
