Brake squeaking Noise
Hi guys,
For some reason our porsche have this squeaking noise, it is there for quick a while already but we took the car to the dealer, they said that is normal. The strange thing is when you slam on the brake very hard, you won't hear it, but when you apply brake slowly, you will hear that squeaking sound very clearly, my wife feels embarassing when braking it hehe. Does it happen to any of you?
I just took some pictures. And I also notice the inner circle of the rotor has a small deep cut around it, does it mean it is time to change the brake pad and rotor?
And couple days ago, when i was driving, the ABS lights on. It saids something failure. But once I stop the engine, restart again. It was gone. Is that a sign that I need to pay attention to the braking system.

Looks like the pads are a little low but I can't really judge by the photos you have, may be time to change. Usually the noise "will" go away if you brake hard but on the other hand if you dampeners aren't working (come loose, lost their hold) betweein the pads and the pistons then you can be getting some movement in there. When you depress hard you're eliminating the distance between the pads, pistons and rotors....
I'm getting pretty close to a change myself....
I think I'll end up shooting some photos......
That ABS light might be a simple case of the magnetic stuff that builds up on the sensors located on the hub area. When you do your brakes blow those sensors off with a good blast of air.

Looks likes you need some pads, and its hard to tell from the pics but I think the rotors are worn pretty down, as i said hard to tell. You gotta clean those calipers...wow Mine are cleaner and We have snow and salt on the roads!
By looking at the picture it doesn't look like your rotors are glazed therefore I will assume your pads are also fine. Check the sensors. You will see them plugged directly into the pad. If they aren't touching and you have some clearance you should be o.k. Eli made a good point it's probably the dampners. They are stuck to the back of the pad. A simple remedy is to inspect the dampners and if they are fine re-install them with a brake lubricant. In most cases lubing the small teeth on the brake dampner cures the squeek. Make sure not to get lube on the pad or rotor. Good luck.
