Suspension upgrade
I have a 2001 996 C2 than needs the shocks replaced. I have done quite a lot of research trying to decide which is the best way to go. I would like to lower the car about an inch but I am not sure the best method to accomplish this. My budget is about $1800 so some of the better coil overs are out of my price range. I have looked at the HR street performance coil overs, but not sure as they are on the lower end of the price range if they are good enough. I like the Bilstein shocks and would like to incorporate them into my decision. Option 1 would be to just replace the shocks with Bilstein B4 or B6 and not lower the car.
I don't understand why the B4 are more expensive than the B6. Option 2 would be to install the HR Street Performance Coil Overs and hope the car doesn't drop much more than an inch or so, and provides improved dampening from my stock setup. Option 3, which I am leaning to now, is to replace the stock springs and install the M030 springs with the B8 Bilstein's. This will hopefully lower the car a little and give me good dampening as well.
Any thoughts or additional options?

I thought the B8's were for the lowered suspension and the B6 was the HD shock for the stock suspension.

I called H&R support prior to buying the springs. They said that their springs were designed to work with B6s. They have been fine since the install.

Daily Driving is firm
Spirited Driving is great.
Track days, the car is planted well, there are not a lot of G-Forces with street tires, so you cannot get the full effect of the suspension as you would with track tires.
The car is stable and predictable to 135 mph, the limits of my track skill.
