On a car of this caliber, the litronic/xenons should be standard along with the 18" wheels.

My top 10:

1. M030 Suspension or even lower.
2. 18" wheels with more selection.
3. Nice floormats with embroidered logo.
4. Alum or carbon accents.
5. PSE.
6. Xenon headlamps.
7. Integrated Valentine V1.
8. Upgraded sound (even though I would rather listen to the engine)
9. Chrome hood crest and steering wheel crest.
10. Nice car care kit.

Minimum Standard Items

In addition to what is now standard, of course:

-auto dimming mirrors
-footwell lighting
-Sport Exhaust
-floor mats
-integrated garage door opener
-short throw shifter
-choice of either wood or aluminum interior accents
-lifetime roadside assistance (Mercedes has now)
-free scheduled maintenance for the warranty period

I better stop now before I start sounding like an
American car brochure. But seriously, there should
be more standard items in a car in this price range than there are now.

Am I correct in assuming that the higher suspension on US cars has something to do with the height of bumper or headlights...some Federal law????

Don - yes you are...its so if you hit a pedestrian at 30MPH or something like that
FYI- on the 996TT many of the items in your lists are standard like full leather interior, free electric seats with memory (or change to sport at no cost), self dimming mirrors (inner and driver) and rain sensor, Bose upgraded stereo etc....
I think electric sport seats should be the same price as regular electric seats!! right now, on a TT adding electric sport seats is $1220 a side and you gotta get both!! Also, they DO NOT have memory!

Hey Don... IMO the jury is still out on that one. The CGT, GT2, & GT3 all come with the same suspension as the ROW cars. I think it has something to do with Americans not being as tolerant to scraping and harsher rides.

Standard ride height requires the fenders to be rolled at the factory. I can not slip my hand between the front tire and the fender.

not charging $700 for a shifter or footwell lighting would be a start

This is a PORSCHE we are talking about, who cares about all of those BS options, all we need is to be able to get the EURO specs and options available to us in the states.
