996 Convertible roof only opens halfway
Hi All, first sunny day after the winter and it turns out my roof doesn’t open fully anymore.
It stops 2/3rds of the way there, and when I keep pressing the rocker button there are switch clicking sounds coming from both the front fuse box, and the back of the car, but it doesn’t move anymore. It closes correctly again from this position.
I have already refilled the hydraulic liquid which was cery low, but it made no difference.
Any ideas what else might be stuck? Why Is it stopping always in this exact same position?
the car stood with no battery most of the winter if that makes a difference?
thanks
James

yes, it was the front windscreen microswitch stuck in closed position. This was due to some plastic debree from a botched previous repair to the plastic switch flap. An easy fix, but quite counterintuitive as the roof stops so long after unlatching! I ended up paying $200 to a convertible roof expert to find this 🙈
Let me know if it’s the same for you?
